Instagram comment keyword ideas for better DM automation

A practical list of Instagram comment keyword ideas for links, pricing, bookings, waitlists, lead magnets, product help, and support.

Your Instagram comment keyword should be boring.

That is usually what makes it work. A person sees the caption, types one simple word, and gets the DM they expected. If the keyword is cute, long, or hard to spell, people get it wrong.

Start with the action

Pick the keyword from the action you want:

  1. link
  2. price
  3. book
  4. guide
  5. demo
  6. menu
  7. size
  8. list
  9. code
  10. waitlist
  11. template
  12. quote

The comment should make sense even if someone reads only the caption.

Keywords for links

Use these when the post promises one link:

  1. link
  2. access
  3. download
  4. checklist
  5. guide
  6. template

Caption example:

Comment GUIDE and I will send the checklist.

DM example:

Here is the guide: [link]

Start with step 2 if you want the fastest result.

Keywords for pricing

Use plain buyer words:

  1. price
  2. cost
  3. plan
  4. quote
  5. package

Caption example:

Comment PRICE and I will send the current options.

DM example:

Prices start at [range]. Want help choosing? Reply with what you need.

Do not hide all pricing behind a long flow. If the person asked for price, give a useful answer.

Keywords for bookings

Booking keywords should match how customers already talk:

  1. book
  2. slot
  3. appointment
  4. consult
  5. call

For local services, use one keyword per post. A haircut post can use BOOK. A consultation post can use CALL.

Keywords for product help

Use these when the person needs help choosing:

  1. size
  2. fit
  3. match
  4. option
  5. bundle

The DM should ask one sorting question, not send the whole catalog.

Are you choosing for [use case A] or [use case B]?

Keywords for launches

Launch posts need clear intent:

  1. waitlist
  2. early
  3. beta
  4. invite
  5. launch

Do not ask people to comment a branded campaign name unless the campaign name is already familiar. "WAITLIST" beats "PROJECTPINK".

Mistakes to avoid

Do not use punctuation inside the keyword.

Do not require exact capitalization.

Do not use words people may spell two ways.

Do not ask for three different keywords in one caption.

Do not make the keyword unrelated to the offer.

How RapidDM fits

RapidDM helps turn simple comment keywords into DM flows: links, product carousels, voice DMs, follow gates, story replies, and follow-ups. The keyword still has one job: make the first step obvious.

Start with RapidDM if your posts already get comments that should become DMs.
