Instagram DM automation for course creators: sell without sending everyone the same pitch

A course creator guide to Instagram DM automation for waitlists, lead magnets, lesson previews, webinar links, objections, and launch follow-up.

RapidDM//2 min read

Course creators usually do not need more random DMs. They need better first steps.

Someone comments "guide" on a teaching post. Someone replies to a story asking about the next cohort. Someone asks "is this for beginners?" under a reel. Those are good moments for automation because the person already showed intent.

Start with the offer type

Course creator automation usually fits one of these offers:

  1. free checklist
  2. mini lesson
  3. webinar
  4. waitlist
  5. challenge
  6. cohort application
  7. checkout link
  8. bonus download

Each offer needs a different first DM. Do not send everyone the same launch pitch.

Lead magnet flow

Post:

Comment GUIDE and I will send the free lesson plan.

DM:

Here is the lesson plan: [link]

If you want help using it, reply with what you teach.

This gets the resource delivered and opens a real conversation.

Waitlist flow

Post:

Next cohort opens soon. Comment WAITLIST if you want first access.

DM:

Join the waitlist here: [link]

Are you joining as a beginner or do you already have [skill/result]?

That question helps segment the list without making the first message heavy.

Webinar flow

Story:

Reply CLASS and I will send the free training link.

DM:

Here is the class link: [link]

It covers [specific outcome], not the whole course.

Set expectations. People trust the next step more when the promise is clear.

Objection flow

Some questions repeat every launch:

  1. Is this beginner-friendly?
  2. How much time does it take?
  3. Is there a certificate?
  4. Are recordings included?
  5. Can I join from another country?
  6. Is there a payment plan?

Build short answers for these. Then offer human help when the answer affects purchase.

Follow-up without pressure

Good follow-up:

Quick check. Did you want the beginner path or the advanced path?

Bad follow-up:

Spots are disappearing fast and you do not want to miss this life-changing opportunity.

People can smell fake urgency.

How RapidDM fits

RapidDM helps course creators turn comments and story replies into cleaner launch conversations: resources, waitlists, product carousels, voice DMs, follow gates, and follow-ups.

Start with RapidDM if your course launch already starts in comments, stories, and DMs.
