1. ManyChat's March 2, 2026 pricing schedule (Active Contacts + overages)

All workspaces created on or after March 2, 2026 (and existing accounts that switch to the new plans) are billed on Monthly Active Contacts. ManyChat counts a contact as active during a billing month if they trigger a comment-to-DM flow, receive a broadcast, interact with a ManyChat AI step, or exchange messages in Live Chat.

How the March 2026 overage math plays out on a viral Reel

The March 2026 model solves one old complaint (your active contact count now resets to zero at the start of each billing cycle), but replaces it with per-contact overage billing:

• Suppose you subscribe to Pro month-to-month ($39/mo), which includes 2,500 active contacts.
• One Friday evening, a Reel takes off and 8,500 people comment your trigger keyword over the weekend.
• The first 2,500 commenters are included in your $39 base fee.
• The extra 6,000 commenters are billed at the Pro monthly overage rate of $0.05 per contact ($300 in overage charges).
• Your invoice for that month jumps to $339 unless you manually upgrade your plan to Business ($99/mo for 7,500 + 1,000 × $0.025 = $124) or Advanced ($199/mo) before the billing cycle closes.

2. Legacy ManyChat Pro pricing tiers (pre-March 2026 stored contacts)

If your ManyChat workspace was created before March 2, 2026 and you have not migrated to the new plans, your account remains on ManyChat's Legacy Pro sliding scale. Legacy accounts are billed on total cumulative contacts stored in your CRM, plus $29/month if you enable the ManyChat AI add-on:

The stored-contact trap on Legacy Pro accounts

When you post an Instagram Reel that says "Comment PDF to get the cheatsheet" and 4,000 people comment on a Legacy Pro workspace:

1. ManyChat creates 4,000 permanent Contact records in your database.
2. Your stored contact count jumps from 800 to 4,800, moving your bill from $25/mo to $45/mo.
3. Next month, another Reel gets 6,000 comments. Your stored list hits 10,800 and your bill jumps to $95/month, staying at $95/month every billing cycle even if you take a month off posting.

Even worse, marking a contact as Unsubscribed inside a Legacy Pro account does not lower your bill. ManyChat's billing documentation states:

"Unsubscribed contacts still count toward your Pro account's total contact limit. To remove them from your billable count, you must delete the contacts."

How to purge dead contacts on a Legacy ManyChat account

If you are on a pre-March-2026 ManyChat plan and want to drop down to a lower billing tier before your next renewal date, follow these steps:

Step 1: Filter inactive contacts

1. Open your ManyChat dashboard and click Contacts in the left sidebar.
2. Click Filter and apply three rules:
   • Last Seen: before > select a date 60 days in the past.
   • Tags: does not have > your high-value tags (Customer, VIP, Booked Call).
   • Opt-in Status: any.

Step 2: Permanently delete the filtered records

1. Check the top selection box, then click Select all [X] contacts across all pages.
2. Click Bulk Actions > Delete Contacts and confirm the deletion prompt.
